Serbian President: “USA’s message is to give up on Kosovo”

The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Hoyt Brian Yee, was very clear at the meeting with the Serbian President, Alexandar Vucic.

Vucic himself has published this week the details of this meeting, in an interview for Serbian TV “Pink”.

He said that the West will not give up from Kosovo and Belgrade needs to find a solution for the new relations with Albanians. “The meeting with Yee was not pleasant, but there were no harsh words”, Vucic said.

“Yee said that the territorial integrity of Kosovo cannot be touched. I told him that you have tried to touch the integrity of Serbia nine years ago. There were other rules in game by then. I told this to his face. He brought me the message of the USA. You need to respect it. If you don’t, you know the consequences”, the Serbian President declared.

Vucic reiterated his message that Serbia needs to try and find a historic agreement with Albanians, for the sake of the future of their children.

This Monday Serbia has officially started the internal dialogue for Kosovo. Moscow, on the other hand, keeps being a concern for Washington. “What happened in the USA has created other problems”, Vucic added.

“Even though we don’t have anything to do it, we may suffer from future decisions as well. Everyone who has any relation with Russia may suffer from this”, he said.

VOA reminds that the USA is concerned about an emergency center that Russia is managing in Nis, southern Serbia.

Some western groups and military analysts see it as a camouflaged military base which Kremlin is using to observe US interests in Balkan.
