Serbian President proposes free trade in Western Balkan

After meeting with the Austrian Chancellor, Christian Kern, the Serbian
Prime Minister, Alexandar Vucic, went back to his proposal for having a
free trade agreement in all of Western Balkan.

Vucic says that the challenge of Balkan countries are weak economies and long transition periods, while their common perspective remains the EU accession.

The Serbian Prime Minister said that beside nationalistic tensions, Balkan countries are all too small to grow without neighboring partnership, and this is why there should be a joint customs service which would make it easier for goods to cross borders, and would also help lowering tensions.

The Austrian Chancellor welcomed the idea, saying that a duty-free union would be a positive way to improve the situation in Balkan.
