Serbian politician: “Truth must be told. Kosovo is independent”

“Why can’t Serbian leaders admit this true fact. They all admit it in private conversations that Kosovo is independent. But this gets punished with votes in Serbia. When the truth is denied, as a daily policy making, the entire government goes towards lies. Truth gets sacrificed in a fight for votes, and Serbia is going towards this direction”, Canak declared.

Canak is one of the oldest politicians in Serbia. He has been mobilized in the Vukovar battle, in Croatia, and was forced to fight. He is among the few people of the democratic block, who hasn’t changed his opinions. He says that confronting the past in a time when populist policies are a threat, is very important. He also wants the region to get closer together, rather than be divided.

“The answer that Serbs are to blame for everything, it is not true. If is like everyone who mentions the Holocaust, thinking that Germans were the only ones to blame. This is not true. It was the system, the nazi ideology of Adolf Hitler and the entire apparatus that implemented it. There are no just or unjust people. This is why it is necessary to tell the truth. Everyone must tell the truth for his people and state”, Canak said.

The Novi Sad politician believes that the Serbian Prime Minister has made some positive things, but he notes that NATO and Europe are the only alternative, even in a country where NATO is not coveted.

“Russia’s interest is to destabilize Bosnia, create problems in Montenegro and control Serbia. It is better for Serbia now to be part of the NATO. But then there is the answer that NATO bombed us. This is true, but NATO bombed Serbia after Slobodan Miloshevic had created five wars”, Canak said.

Aware that he doesn’t stand very good chances to win, Canak said that if truth is said every day, it can help.
