“The proposal to divide the territory of Kosovo between Serbs and Albanians is an expression of the will to find a compromise solution for Kosovo and should not be interpreted as a weakness,” Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Friday in Belgrade.
“Those who say that there should be no boundary change should be ashamed. Those who have bombed us to demolish our borders are hypocrites. This applies to Macedonia, which has recognized Kosovo’s independence and now says there is no change of borders”, Dacic added.
After a meeting with Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Dacic once again reminded that he has spoken openly about territorial division as the only solution for Kosovo. And according to him, for Russia is acceptable whatever is acceptable for Serbia.
On the other hand, the United States ambassador to Pristina, Greg Delawie, said his country remains one of Kosovo’s biggest supporters and independence.
“The United States is one of Kosovo’s closest friends and supporters. Although you may read something else in the media, this has not changed and will not change. The friendship between our two countries is deep and is multi-dimensional, so we work hard every day to advance our goals, such as democracy, security and prosperity, “said Delawie.
His statements come after comments, mostly of politicians in Belgrade, that Trump’s administration does not support Kosovo’s independence, as the previous administrations have done so far.
Even the European Commission, through Spokesperson Carlos Martin, spoke on Friday for a permanent solution in accordance with international law, but above all with the compatibility of Pristina and Belgrade.
