Serbian justice authorities released one of the highest ranking
officials of the Kosovo Police, the Chief of the Northern Mitrovica, who
was charged with terrorism by Serbian authorities one month ago.

The Serbian state TV says that Nehat Thaci was released this Tuesday after the Prosecution withdrew its charges.

Thaci was arrested after crossing the border with Serbia this September. Kosovo and its leaders have reacted against this action.

Although Kosovo has declared independence since 2008, after the wars of 1998 and 1999, which was resolved with the NATO intervention, Belgrade keeps denying the formation of the newest state in Southeastern Europe. However, they have joined the talks intermediated by the EU for normalizing the relations between the two countries, with the purpose to advance with the EU aspirations.
