Serbia irritated by Zaev’s declarations

In an interview for Serbian media outlet “Kurir”, Zaev said that Serbia supports Nikola Gruevski and VMRO because it has nationalistic leaders such as Alexandar Vucic.

These declarations from Macedonia were criticized by two Serbian Ministers. Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said this was a scandalous declaration, but, according to him, Serbia will not act since Zaev has not taken power yet.

“Macedonia recognized Kosovo and votes for them at the UNESCO. These stances from a person claiming to be Prime Minister cannot be seen and friendly, but we try to lead a policy of peace”, Dacic said.

Alexandar Vucic, Serbian Prime Minister, newly elected President, also said that he leads a peaceful policy with the entire region. He answered to Zaev, saying he doesn’t lead a nationalistic policy, and he commented Haradinaj’s declarations in an interview.

“I offered cooperation to Albanians and I don’t make jokes with them. I am already used to see Albanians and the people assisting them uniting very easily with the only purpose to attack Alexandar Vucic. They don’t do this because of me, but because they see a stronger Serbia as a problem”, Vucic said.
