A group of KLA members were found guilty for war crimes by a court in
Belgrade and were sentenced to 116 years in prison in total.

Six of the defendants were found innocent by the jury led by judge Snezana Nikoloc Graotic in a process much followed by the Serbian media.

According to the Tanjug News Agency, the Kosovo group tortured to death around 80 persons, most of whom were Serbs and the rest were from other ethnic minorities in Kosovo.

Tanjug added that 34 victims of the defendants are still missing, while 153 Serbian citizens were illegally arrested by them, were tortured and then liberated.

The so called “Gjilan Group” was composed of Agus Memsi, Samet hajdari, Nazi Hajdari, Ahmet Hasani, Burim Fazli, Selmon Sadiku, Fajtor Hajdari, Ferhat Hajdari, Kamber Sahiti, Sadik Alija and Sefket Musliju, all sentenced from 12 to 15 years of prison.

Fazlia Ajdari, Rexhep Shaqiri, Alija Idrizi and Halim Ramanani were found innocent.

However, the Serbian Office of War Criems was not satisfied with the verdict.
“Justice was partial, considering their horrible crimes”, declared Bruno Bekaric, the director of this office.
