The European Ambassador to Tirana, Ettore Sequi, met with the Socialist
Movement for Integration leader, Ilir Meta, with whom he discussed about
political inclusiveness as a necessity for realizing the essential
reforms that will approach Albania to the European Union.
“I was pleased by the usage of one word, ‘inclusiveness’, which is a key word, because the European Union integration process included the entire country. All chances for Albania are there, so that they can receive the candidate status. We believe that this will be able even thanks to this commitment”, Sequi declared.
“Despite this majority of 84 votes, there will be important cases that will not need just a voting based on numbers, but a wide consensus and cooperation with the opposition. This will be our will in the future and we hope to see a new philosophy from the majority, and this is what we expect from the opposition”, Meta declared.
The Socialist Movement for Integration leader underlined that the civil society, interest groups and academic circles will be included in these reforms, in order to get a quicker pace in the reforms.
One day ago Ambassador Sequi met with Albania’s next Prime Minister, Edi Rama, with whom he discussed about the European agenda of Albania.
“We discussed about the European Agenda of Albania and the challenges that our country has ahead. We discussed about the fact that the European agenda is a priority of the government. I reiterated to Mr.Rama the support of the European Union for the implementation of this agenda”, Sequi declared.
