The Ambassador of the European Union to Tirana, Ettore Sequi, declared
that Albania has great chances to receive the EU candidate status in a
short time.
Speaking in front of the LRI Summer Politics Academy in Jala, Sequi declared that there are some interesting movements that could bring the country closer to fulfilling the criteria set by the EU, and that with the necessary commitment by the Albanian politicians, the integration processes can progress.
“As you know, we required a series of criteria for the status, and one of them was passing the three laws in Parliament, something that was realized in the June 23rd elections”, Sequi declared.
According to the Ambassador, the EU has requested more commitments as regards fight against corruption and organized crime, which is part of the most important chapter.
“There is no much time to see results in this area, but however, I see interesting movements and I think that with the right commitment and quick interventions, chances are high for receiving the status this December”, declared the Head of the EU delegation.
