The leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Ilir Meta,
proposed changes in the government cabinet, as agreed with the
Democratic Party in the coalition of the 2009 elections.
Meta held a press release saying that the government needs some changes that will be undertaken not before September. Meta proposes that the current Foreign Minister, Edmond Haxhinasto, should become Minsiter of Economy, Trade and Energy, replacing the current Minister Nasip Naco. Haxhinasto will still be Deputy Prime Minister.
Meta proposes Edmond Panariti as Foreign Minister, and Nasip Naco as Deputy Parliament Speaker, currently held by Vangjel Tavo. Tavo is proposed as Health Minister, replacing the current Petrit Vasili.
During the same press conference, Meta declared that the SMI Convention will be held on 29 and 30 September, where they will vote the party leader and the new structures of the SMI leadership through the principle “one member, one vote”.
