The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, declared that the fate
of the 35 most problematic debtors of our country will not be the same
anymore.
Sejko said that the Bank of Albania, in cooperation with private banks, have chosen which companies will be restructured and which will be brought to bankruptcy.
“Our focus was to separate companies with a positive prospect from those that could not recover. We worked with the banks and made a division”, Sejko declared.
Selecting the problematic debtors is one of the main points of the plan for reducing bad loans. The Governor gave no other details, but asked the Courts to do its job.
Sejko was summoned to the commission to evaluate the nex budget. He said that the draft prepared by the governor reflects the suggestions of the Bank of Albania.
Answering to the questions of the Parliament Members, the governor said the bank has a scenario more reserved than that of the governor for increasing the economic expectancy.
The Bank of Albania undertook an aggressive politics during the past two years to help recovering the economy.
According to Sejko, the extreme easing on the monetary policy has not given the expected effect for increasing loans, due to uncertainties in the market.
