The opposition and the majority clashed in harsh debates regarding the
new draft law for the Military Intelligence Service, SHIU.
The Socialists at the National Security Commission declared that SHIU is taking competences outside the military.
The opposition MPs declared that what is predicted in this law could seriously damage the other secret services that operate in the country. For this reason they have asked to be heard by the interest groups, especially the Secret Service and Prosecution.
According to the opposition, the passing of this law with urgency is a serious problem, since the government has planned to pass it this Thursday.
The opposition insists in knowing which of Albania’s strategic NATO partners have demanded amends and what have they proposed.
The head of the Military Intelligence Service was unable to answer to most of the questions raised by the opposition and they asked to get prepared until Wednesday morning.
