The first phase is over for the selection of Person of the Year, an
annual poll organized by Top Channel. The most voted names by the public
are:

“The first phase has brought a list dominated by politics, with the name of Sokol Olldashi and his involvement in politics. There are also names from three Top Channel employees, such as Sokol Balla, Arbana Osmani and Marin mema, but they were replaced by the following names which start with Rama and end with Berisha, declared the webmaster of Top Channel, Igli Gjelishti.
1. Lulzim Basha: The second phase start this Saturday and has 10 names proposed by Top Channel. Lulzim Basha was not included in the first top ten list of the public. He is proposed by Top Channel with the motivation: important public figure, winner of the race for leading the Democratic Party after the resignation of Sali Berisha, and the new leader of the Democratic Party for the first time in 22 years.
2. Rexhep Qosja. Active publicist who held strong positions during an important political year in Kosovo and Albania.
3. Pal Ndoka. The man who reported on Top Channel’s investigative program “Fiks Fare” the corruption in the justice system.
4. Vlorent Xhafaj, Albanian violin player who is shining in the world’s best orchestras, and organizer of the prestigious festival Different Trains, held in Tirana for the second consequent year.
5. Luljeta Lleshanaku. Best author of the Book Fair.
6. Saimir Pirgu. Tenor who honors Albania’s art through the world.
7. Ermonela Jaho. Albanian soprano who performs in most famous international scenes.
8. Protesters. The protesters against the import of waste materials in Spring, and those of November, against the chemical weapons. Since some from the public voted in the first phase people who were involved in these protests, and others voted the organizations, Top Channel decided to include all the participants with one name: protesters.
9. Mimoza Kusari Lila. Renowned figure in Kosovo and Albania. This year she broke the masculine myth in politics by winning an important municipality as Gjakova.
10. Alexander Arvizu, United States Ambassador and friend of Albanians, active in important events of our country, starting with political events and also the reporting of corruption in general.
The public may select the winner, who will be declared on December 31st.
