During his visit in Brussels, Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting
with the President of the European parliament, Martin Schultz. During
the joint conference, Schulz reiterated his stance regarding the
boycott.

“MPs should stay in Parliament and not outside. This is the same thing that I said when Edi Rama was in opposition. I made him several appeals to return in Parliament, which he eventually did. My opinion has not changed. The Parliament has been elected for all MPs to work there”, Schultz declared.

Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that now they have fulfilled all requests of the opposition and that they are open for dialogue.

“I have never spoken to the opposition in English. However, I want to underline that we are waiting for them to return. We have fulfilled every legitimated request and we are open for everything that they might want to propose. We are ready to sit and find the best solution with them”, Rama declared.

MP Taulant Balla, who was accompanying Prime Minister Rama in this visit, held the same stance that was apparently expressed by the Head of European Popular Parties, Manfred Weber.

“We shared the same stance with leader Weber, so that we can keep a constant communication channel with the opposition. We want the same communication canal between the S&D and the European Popular Parties even in Albania. We want cooperation with the opposition as regards the relations with the Parliament and the European Commission. The fact that the leader of the European Popular Parties admitted that we have realized all requests of the opposition remains a good value for the DP, which played its constitutional role in the Albanian Parliament”, Balla declared.

From Cologne, at the Congress of the CDU, the Albanian opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, declared on Facebook that the German highest personalities are concerned about the situation of democracy and the rule of law in Albania.

“No reflection from the Rama-Meta duo, but only efforts to blind our European partners. They want to present the legal and constitutional obligations of the majority as claims from the opposition, but they refuse to take responsibility for the situation they created in Parliament through incrimination and the elimination of parliamentary supervision. Neither Albanians or the Europeans buy this”, Basha declared.
