Saranda, tourism is threatened

Thousands of Albanian and foreign citizens have chosen the coastline of
Ksamil for their summer holidays, but they have faced the frequent
electric power cuts, usually by night.

Although these power cuts do not last for more than 15-20 minutes, it has been concerning for tourists and the services of restaurants, hotels, fast food and entertainment.

The tourists seem happy with the quality of the coastline and Ksamil sea water, as well with the accommodation and food quality. But they add the power cuts in the peak of the tourist season are unacceptable, although not enough for making them abandon the vacancies.

Meanwhile, in Saranda, the tourist epicentre, only 30 km in the north, the situation seems more acceptable. This summer there have been only four power cuts and also problems with the water supply in some neighbourhoods. Some sources say that these power cuts have happened because CEZ and the aqueduct are making works for improving their networks. However, the businesses say that the situation is better than some years ago.

There are thousands of Albanian tourists in Saranda and Ksamil, while the number of Albanian tourists from Macedonia, Kosovo and even foreigners has increased.
