Sarajevo summit, a chance to lower tensions in the Balkans

A summit of Prime Ministers of Balkans’ countries has united leaders in Sarajevo, where they will discuss possibilities to develop the region but also lowering tensions between neighbors.

Organized by the Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, headlights are all on Serbian Prime Minister Alexandar Vucic, whose visit has had more security concerns after a visit of him in Srebrenica two years ago didn’t go well. But he insisted he felt safe in Sarajevo and could also go out in the street to talk to people. But on the discussion table, Serbs immediately criticized Kosovo.

Beside Balkans’ leaders EU enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn is also attending the summit. He will partake in discussions for common development project funded by EU, in a meeting considered a sequel to Berlin and Paris summits initiated by German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
