Amid e political crises Macedonia faces sanctions from international partners. “Financial Times” quotes members of the negotiation group involved in talks with Macedonian leaders warning they risk heave measures if they continue to block forming the new government and fuel ethnic conflict.
Euro MP Ivo Vajgl one of four members of the European Union in charge of negotiations, accuses VMRO-DPMNE and says if the situation will get worse, “other measures will be implemented, beginning from financial ones”.
Another high official in EU confirms the idea of sanctions against Macedonia is being considered in Brussels and other European capitals. The refusal of President Ivanov to meet EU commissioner Johannes Hahn was considered as political irresponsibility. Vajgl also said the strong refusal from Gruevski to open the way for a new government has in its roots his fear to end up in prison.
