Salaries for the Armed Forces and firefighters are increased, Albanian ministry announces

The salaries of the Armed Forces and firefighters have increased.

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi said that the increase affects all levels, from the ‘fourth soldier’ to the generals.

“This increase started in 2022, and it’s the largest increase in Albania’s post-90s history, with 30% and a promise and commitment by the Prime Minister that the salaries of the Armed Forces will increase every year, until we reach the level average of the countries of the Alliance we belong to”, said Peleshi.

For the fourth soldier, the salary will go to 71 thousand all, from 42 thousand all in 2022, i.e. an increase in these two years of 290 thousand all. According to the minister, food pension is added to all salaries, which is given in the form of a payment of 160,000 lek.

“The sergeant in 2022 had a salary of 48,200 ALL, after the increase of 30% it went to 62,660 ALL with today’s increase going to 800 thousand ALL, plus 160 thousand of food treatment.

“The army major’s salary went from 68,800 lek to 99,440 lek after a 30% increase and today it goes to 107,000 including food treatment. The difference in two years is 382 thousand lek.

“The general had 127,500 in 2022, it went to 165,000 after the increase by 30% and today it goes to 190,000 lek.

The budget of the Ministry of Defense I remind you that it has reached 2% of GDP, making Albania one of the 22 allied countries in NATO that fulfill this criteria.

Army’s civil personnel are also included in the salary budget, as explained by the Minister of Finance.

The firefighting personnel will have an increase of up to 30% depending on the ranks.

Fire assistant, which is the lowest rank of the firefighter, the current salary is 46,000 Lek, it increases in percentage 30.43%, in the value of 140,000 Lek, the salary today is 60,000 Lek. As soon as you enter the Fire Service, the starting salary from today will be 60,000 Lek, stated the defense minister.
