Sajmir Tahiri’s trial against Prime Minister’s children

20/06/2012 00:00

The Socialist MP, Sajmir Tahiri, who has been sued by the children of
Prime Minister Sali Berisha, referred to a series of decisions taken by
the Supreme Court and the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, all in
favor of the accused.

Tahiri defended himself by saying that the Prime Minister’s children are corrupted and that he hadn’t been slandering, but was using what he had heard in public about them.

“The Supreme and the Strasbourg Court practice is very clear. The opinions of politicians cannot go to court if they are known by everyone, and there is no suspect that Shkelzen Berisha is involved in Gerdeci’s tragedy and that Argita Berisha is involved in other corruptive affairs”, Tahiri declared.

The Socialist MP pleaded not guilty, adding that the court should make its constitutional job, rather than obeying to the orders for an impartial process.[

Tahiri declared that after declaring their assets, the Prime Minister’s children had profited in the recent months more than before, what proved that his declaration had caused them no financial damage.

Some legal experts from the US Embassy responded to his request for being present in court.
