Russia might remove the trade embargo of Albania and open its markets
for our exports. The news was made public by the Russian authorities and
was confirmed by the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture.
The decision comes after a series of high-level meetings between the Albanian and Russian authorities.
The Russian government blocked the exports from Albania three weeks ago after discovering some fraudulent cases when products from other countries were exported as Albanian.
Sources from the Ministry of Agriculture say that the government has taken all procedures for not allowing the falsification of the certificates. This seems to have convinced the Russian side too.
From January 1st, Albania will use a new model for the original certificates and more security elements. The Albanian authorities have sent full information to Russia about the producing capacity of Albanian farms. According to the notification, after the ban will be lifted, Albania will export only fruits, vegetables and meat products to Russia.
Although the trade exchanges with Russia are very low and insignificant, they grew rapidly after the embargo that Kremlin placed on EU countries.
The ban caused significant damage for exporters, since Russia had turned into one of the main destinations in the past two months.
