The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, declared during his visit in Ljubljana, Slovenia, that the western policy, asking Balkan countries to choose between the West and Russia, is very damaging.
According to Lavrov, this behavior had encouraged the crisis in Ukraine in 2014: “Now they want to drag Balkan to the same game as well, forcing them to choose between Russia and the West”, Lavrov said.
Lavrov is expected to visit Serbia, which also aims to join the EU, but keeps strong ties with Russia, mainly due to Moscow’s support of their policy for Kosovo.
