The former Secretary of Defense of the United States, Donald Rumsfeld,
was decorated by the Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, with the “Flag’s Order”, in recognition
for his support in Albania’s NATO membership and for the motivation that
the United States of America has given to the Albanian Army.
“Ramsfeld’s friendship for Albania, the support through his vision, and the commitment of his collaborators for the deep reforms that were undertaken in the Albanian Army, the support that Mr.Rumsfeld is giving for Albania to get a NATO membership, are now part of the gratitude and historic memory of the Albanian people”, Nishani declared.
“NATO is an alliance where values are shared. It is a more than just a military alliance. Those values that Albania has brought to NATO are extraordinary for us, because they have helped the NATO. We and all members recognize these values, and we thank you for this. I’m here to transmit the best wishes of the American nation for Albania”, Rumsfeld declared.
Mr.Rumsfeld has participated in the forum where they discussed about the NATO and the further challenges of this coalition. In this ceremony was invited Prime Minister Berisha and the Minister of Environment, Fatmir Mediu, who invited Mr.Rumsfeld in Tirana. Meanwhile, Mr.Rumsfeld will promote in Tirana his book that is also translated in Albanian.
