Archeologists have uncovered the foundations of a building that seems from the Ottoman occupation period, near the Durres Port.

Experts say it may have been built during 1800s, built close to the Byzantine fortification near the Venetian Tower.

A cannon was also found nearby, probably used by Albanian soldiers against occupiers.

These findings help build the urban development of the Durres population, from the Roman times to Middle Ages and even later.

A 6 million EUR project is underway for reviving the area and turning it into a tourist attraction, a symbol object of the city.
