November is usually the month that unites Albanians as they celebrate the Independence Day.
But the November 26th earthquake made them come closer to each other in other ways.
Many celebrities responded to the appeal of the Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, to adopt a home damaged by the earthquake and contribute with its reconstruction.
The world renowned Kosovo Albanian singer, Rita Ora, was one of them. She decided to rebuild the home of the Sala family, in Pinar.
The six members of this family have now a new home, and they received the key from the Mayor of Tirana himself, accompanied by the cousin of Rita Ora, Amantia.
“We have worked with the Prime Minister to rebuild homes, but the government cannot do everything. Even in countries like GB and USA, there is a limit to what the government can do. This is why other people come in and help. We know that Rita Ora has hundreds of concerts and other things to think about. Yet, she thought that although she couldn’t fix everything here, she could fix one home and help one family”, Veliaj said, as he reminded the meeting he had with the Albanian singer after the earthquake.
