On the World Holocaust Day, Albanian President Bujar Nishani decorated
35 families and individuals who hid Jewish people in their homes during
WWII.

The Foreign Minister of Albania and the Isreali Ambassador to Tirana inaugurated the park named “Righteous among nations”.

“We want to make known the sublime acts of our predecessors, who protected not only the Jewish people, but also the values we hold dear today”, Minister Bushati said.

The Israeli Ambassador said Albania’s is an example that should be followed.

“We honor those we call the righteous among nations, and we give a good lesson to future generations. We are feeling a climate of extremism in Europe today, which can be confronted with the moral values of the Albanian families who sheltered Jewish people during WWII”, said Ambassador Boaz Rodkin.

More than 6 million Jews were killed in Nazi concentration camps during the World War II, a massacre that came to an end on January 27th, when the Soviet forces liberated the notorious camp of Auschwitz.
