The former Albanian oil magnate, Rezart Taci, was found not guilty six months ago for unpaid taxes. However, the Prosecution of Tirana has filed a new case with the same charges.
The Prosecution accuses him of evading VAT, excise and carbon tax, during the time he was administering ARMO, causing a damage of more than 8 million EUR.
An important fact of the Prosecution is that when ARMO was not paying the tax obligations, claiming they didn’t have liquidity, millions of Euros were withdrawn from the bank accounts of the company, and their destination is unknown.
It is now up to the Court of Tirana to decide, while the trial will be in absence since Taci has left the country two years ago.
He was accused by Swiss authorities of fraud, but it is still unknown how these procedures were concluded.
Former magnate Taci had all of his companies go bankrupt, companies which he had created after privatizing ARMO.
