Leonard Dedej is one of the parents who were revolted about the meetings that the LGBTI community held in Tirana’s high-schools, part of a tour organized by the Ministry of Education.
For this reason, he raised a LGBTI flag at the Education Ministry, as a sarcastic gesture.
“Why should my child go to school and take lectures about the LGBTI? No one can impose ideas on my child. They are carrying out campaigns with minors who are not sexually mature yet. I have taken my child to school for him to receive knowledge, not to be part of ideology projects. In the future, we could have paedophiles as well demanding to give their ideology to schools. After they are 18, then that’s another story. It’s their choice”, Leonard says.
The Ministry of Education clarified that teacher and parents are being trained about human rights, bullying and violence, part of the government’s action plan for the LGBTI members.
However, parents are concerned about other issues.
“We should focus on other issues, real problems that our students are facing in Albanian schools, such as drugs, abortion, teaching conditions, free school texts for people in need. We have students taking blankets with them at school because they’re cold and there’s no heating system. This anti-constitutional campaign should stop because it has no moral base”, Leonard declared.
