The Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti, declared from Cerrik that
the involvement of new projects for the cultivation of tobacco aims
removing the market monopoly.
The Prime Minister’s declaration comes after numerous protests held by the Dumrea farmers and after their drastic decision to not plant this culture anymore, which is traditional for the area.
“There are new economic actors who have shown interest for the planting, gathering and trading of tobacco, so that farmers can be treated better”, Panariti said.
