Returned emigrants plant wheat

After returning from emigration, dozens of Albanian families are
starting to cultivate their own agricultural lands, focusing mainly on
wheat.

The cultivation cost of this culture is lower, and emigrants say they are growing it even it is not very lucrative.

Since there has been a growing interest, the Directory of Agriculture has taken measures by testing the seeds.

“The farmers have a high interest for this culture, since it has a high capacity. The planted areas have kept growing in the past years. After a 3-4 year study, we recommend farmers to cultivate wheat”, declared Demir Areza, agriculture expert.

Emigrants confirm that wheat will not give any big profit, but that has been their only solution.

The Korce region has planted more than 1/10th of its surface with wheat, producing more than 50,000 tons a year.
