The Director of the Energy Regulation Entity, Petrit Ahmeti, says that
the return of the flat rate energy payment is an obligatory measure,
since 20% of the clients don’t have meters or they have damaged them.
“Since the company had the obligation to not establish a flat payment, a negative precedent started to happen with the damaged meters. Since there is no flat payment, the company is unable to give new meters to all clients, and they were obliged to consume the energy, but their bill would go to a minimal value, even symbolical”, Ahmeti declared.
The ERE decision states that all these consumers will be billed for 200 to 600 KW of energy, based on the season and areas where they live.
“The calculations will be made with efficiency, but certainly, not with absolute accuracy such as the measurement, but there will be a value that goes close to what families consume”, Ahmeti declared.
The return of flat rate bills confirms the chaotic situation in the distribution sector, which is facing huge losses and massive abuses with the energy. But the ERE says that this measure will be temporary.
“This is a deadline that we are consulting with the companies, and because it is related to the financial capacity that the company has for spending on this investment. I guarantee you that this investment has been considered as a priority by ERE”, Ahmeti declared.
A few days ago, the government officialized a task force under the lead of the Deputy Prime Minister, to face te urgent situation in the energy market, where more than half of the energy is stolen or gets lost in the market, while the money collected by the company remains law.
