The economic crisis in Italy and Greece has been difficult even for the Albanian immigrants who have decided to return home.
A report of “Children on the Move” in Albania says that more than 1000 Albanian children face difficulties with the education system, since they do not know Albanian well.
“The data collected from interviews and other sources show that for the period January-September 2013, 451 children have returned from Greece to Albania and 758 have returned from Italy. This is a significant number. Most of these children do not speak Albanian at all. They cannot even go to school, or they don’t know where to go, or they haven’t even been registered. They were born in another country and their registration is not in Albania, that’s why they have to wait for months”, declared Jezerca Tigani, Director of “Terre Des Hommes”.
On the International Day of the Approval of the Children Rights Convent, members of the civil society march in front of the Prime Minister’s office and asked for a national register with the names of all persons who have committed crimes against children.
