Restoration of five mosques

The project for the restoration of 5 culture monuments was presented in five different castles in Albania.
This project was an idea of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, and will be realized in cooperation with the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination, which will be the main sponsor of this initiative.
“This is a 4 million EUR package that the Ministry of Culture has signed with the TIKA foundation for restoring religious objects and cultural monuments in different areas of Albania, such as the mosque at the Peze Castle, which is 600 years old, and other monuments in Elbasan, Berat, Korce and Kruje. This is only the first part of the project”, declared Minister Aldo Bumci.
The Preze Castle Mosque is only one of the culture monuments that have been chosen for renovation. Together with the Pazar Mosque in Kruje, the Plumb Mosque in Berat, the Nazireshe Mosque in Elbasan and the Iljaz Bej Mirahori in Korce, were all chosen for their historical values.
According to the Minister, the second phase will include other cultural monuments and will be realized in cooperation with the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination, which operates in Albania since 1992.
