Parents of students of one of the schools rebuilt after the 2019 earthquake in the municipality of Durres have protested today, as the rebuilt school has not yet opened its doors.

Today some parents of the students from the village of Kullë in Durrës, refused to send their children by bus to the host school in Rrushkull.

“In November we were told that the school would not be inaugurated. For the new year we were told that the school will open on January 5th. Today here we are all waiting here and the bus left empty. We have been waiting for this new and beautiful school for 2 years “, say the interviewed parents.

“We are here with our children. We demand that the school be opened. The school is ready and we refuse to take the children to Rrushkull. The situation on the bus is catastrophic. “150 people get on the bus supposed to carry 50 people.”

“We were informed by phone that the children will go to Rrushkull again. They do not have the conditions there.

“At 18.30 my son comes home. I live on top of the hill. Do I come to check on him? Should I go to Rrushkull, or pick up the child in the morning ?! What should I do?!”

“There is no security for our children. Why are they holding this school hostage, why it is not opening yet. We want them to give us an exact date,” complain the parents.

The joint high school “Ismet Nanushi” in Kulle has a total of 770 students and is composed of the kindergarten, the 9-year primary and high school levels.
