Residents of Vajkal village in Bulqiza, supported by the Union of Albanian Environmental Experts and the well-known environmental activist Sazan Guri, have gathered today in protest to protect the forested aereas of Bulqiza.
This is because the residents themselves had spotted the opening of a road through the forest by a construction company, which would lead to the destruction of trees by illegal logging.
Residents, some of whom migrants to foreign countries, gathered near the national road, demanding that the crown of Bulqiza mountain not be touched for exploitation.
Residents accuse the state of giving space to various unlicensed companies in order to use Bulqiza forests with no criteria, in an environmental massacre which they say they are determined to protect to the end.
They ask all local and government instances to intervene as soon as possible, and not allow the destruction of the forests in Bulqiza Mountain, as it has happened with the forest massif in the Liqeni i Zi area.
Environmental expert Sazan Guri also spoke in support of the residents, saying that a criminal act is being committed and the legal instances should take measures to stop this environmental massacre as soon as possible.
