Residents of the Madhesh village, Ulez administrative unit, in Mat in northeastern Albania, protested today against plans to build a hydropower plant in their area.
They accuse that the project envisages taking away the water for irrigating their crops, and that the local mayor Agron Malaj is behind the plan.
Residents say that the investment is being carried out in complete secrecy and accuse that their signatures are being forged.
Residents demand the withdrawal of the project, otherwise they warn that they will escalate the protests to the blocage of highway.
