Residents were forced to sleep outside their apartment building, which has created cracks due to a recent landslide, while the Municipality of Gjirokastra and the Geological Service did not agree about their reports.
The Prefect of Gjirokastra approved the request of the Municipality to evacuate the 17 families, sheltering them at the dormitory of a professional high school, until a final solution is found.
Police have surrounded the area as unsafe, while residents say that new and wider cracks were seen on the walls of the building before they were evacuated.
