The Election College, headed by the judge Dhurata Haveri, rejected the
request of the Socialist Party, which opposed the decision taken by the
Central Election Commission to use the reserve stamps in case the stamp
holders at Zonal Election Commissions will abandon their duty.
The legal representatives of the Socialist Party claimed that this CEC decision will be misused and that CEC took this decision with four votes, when the normative acts can be issued only with five votes or more.
The request of the Socialist Party was not taken under consideration and it was rejected by the Electoral College. The CEC decision for producing reserve stamps was taken by the end of April, to avoid events like the one that happened in Ruzhdie. The reserve stamps are produced for all election centers, and will be used on May 8th only if commissioners will abandon their jobs.
The reserve stamps differ from the original stamps only by an additional letter “R”. After this decision, SP lawyer Koli Bele declared for the media that this is a strange decision.
