The new list of reimbursable medicaments enters in act this Tuesday,
with more than 50 medicines added to the original list. Patients from
several categories will not pay for 477 medicaments in total.
“The Albanian people will have access to 56 new medicines, starting from tomorrow. This means more cured diseases, more safety in their treatment. Diabetes, tumor, heart and neurologic patients will benefit more. There is a large number of people who can take advantage, starting from children, pregnant women and retired people”, declared the Director of Health Insurance Funds, Astrit Beci.
Medicines for diseases such as mental illnesses and alcohol dependence are included for the first time this year.
“Many medicaments are being included for the first time. I would want to mention hepatitis B and C, which is covered by this list for the first time. There is a huge number of people suffering from these diseases, people with alcohol dependence, tumors, heart diseases and others”, Beci declared.
Right after doctors issue a receipt, patients might check on internet the list of medicaments that can be reimbursed.
“Every patient, doctor or pharmacist can check through the cell phone and receive all necessary information, starting from the origin of the medicine and to the dosage, price and if it is reimbursed or not”, Beci declared.
Starting from April 1st, VAT for medicaments will be removed, and this will affect patients with lower prices.
