“Reforming the Intelligence Service”

Prime Minister Rama declared that the situation is not common and this cannot be denied. But to face with the crime, the Prime Minister warned for strong reforms even in the national intelligence service.

“Certainly that this month has marked a significant deterioration, especially pscychological, due to the negative novelty in the general criminal activity. The terrorizing acts, the criminal attacks with dynamite. This is a fact that cannot be denied, but the state’s reaction should be mre complex than a simple reaction of the state police. We will review a legal reform for the public order in Parliament, and will establish the National Bureau of Investigations, for which we are working closely with our partners. This is one fact more, also to understand that the level of the Albanian intelligence service is not only the Secret Service, which is based on a law of 1998 and cannot fulfill the challenges of our times. We need it in another level. We need a general legal and organisative reform for this, which has started same as the new strategy for the national security”, Rama declared.

Rama criticized the opposition, which, according to him, regardless of the operation that Rama considered as spectacular, did not say a single good word for the blue uniform. Rama declared that the police is undergoing an essential restructuring process that will go on.

“After the spectacular police operation that caught the gang of dynamite, you stayed silent. You didn’t say any good word for the police. We will keep building the state that you ruined. We will keep releasing the knots that you created through incapability at the police. For Albania to get rid of the crime, it needed to get rid of your government first”, Rama declared.

“We have created the bases of a complete restructuring, and we have ended the political submission. Salaries for employees on terrain have changed, and this is making our police not only able to seize huge amounts of drug, and to realize operations like the one that we saw yesterday, but I guarantee you that this is only the beginning. The numbers speak on themselves. The crime solving rates have increased significantly. 15% more people have been arrested within our country, and there are 111 more persons who are wanted internationally”, the Prime Minister declared.

“You make politics with crime. We make war against crime. Your politics inspires the crime. We will put crime where it belongs, and this is only the beginning”, Rama declared.
