The Central Election Commission members should be apolitical and the way
how this institution will manage the situation is key for these
elections.
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Philip Reeker, launched this direct declaration during a hearing session for Albania that was held in Washington, at the Commission for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
Reeker declared that the June 23rd elections would be an indicator of the country’s maturity. The purpose of this hearing session is to value the progress scale in Albania.
A press statement released before the meeting says that despite the progress, Albania is still facing many problems with the establishment of democratic institutions and practices, including the rule of law.
While the country is preparing for the June 23rd elections, the purpose of this session is to calculate the scale in which this process has already disappointed the expectances inside and outside the country, and what can be done to accelerate the further reforms that are related with a good governing.
