Reducing cannabis plantations

The Tirana district is not recognized as one of the hottest points for
the cultivation of cannabis, but a new tendency has been noted in the
rural communes. Villagers have started planted it in lands without
owners or vases.

The Tirana Prefect, Sadi Vorbsi, asked the Tirana Police and Heads of Communes to cooperate for reducing this phenomenon.

“The most problematic areas in Tirana are communes, where planters have been caught in the act, such as in Baldushk, Vrap, Shpat, Berzhita, Luga, Shalqiza, Dritas-Tapiza and Zall Herr. In Zall Bastar and Shen Gjergj there have been people planting it in vases, making it ready to plant it in a wider scale on the mountainous terrain”, Vorbsi declared.

The Prefect asked for a stronger cooperation between the police, schools and other institutions to stop the drug dealers from schools.

The Tirana Police said that they have prepared the plan of measures for 2014, but they are looking for inter-institutional cooperation.

“The Tirana Police and the Directory of the Forest Service in Tirana have planned joint work programs for supervising the territory according to the jurisdiction they cover, in order to prevent and eliminate every single plant of narcotics. This is due to a new tendency that has been noted for cultivating them in lands without owner or in very deep areas, where police and other institutions cannot go for inspection”, declared Ardian Cipa, Director of the Tirana Police.
