Red-painted eggs and Easter buns, secretly practiced during atheist communism

Albanians prepare to celebrate Orthodox Easter tonight, a symbol of which are boiled eggs painted in red and Easter buns.
These traditions were preserved by Orthodox families even during the communist regime, when any form of religious practice was banned.
The big Thursday, as known by the Orthodox calendar, has started earlier for Dhimitra Llazari, a 77-year-old woman who preserves the Easter rituals with great rigor. She is one of the many women who dared secretly paint eggs and gift them to relatives even during the regime.
