The Red and Black Alliance attacked the government’s initiative to buil a
new National Independence Monument for the 100th anniversary of
Independence.
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister Sali Berisha proposed a series of projects for celebrating the 100th independence anniversary. One of these propositions was for building a new monument.
“This initiative is shameful and we cannot allow history to change, as it has happened in the past. History has happened once but it has been written hundreds of times. We want to express our deep regret for the opposition’s silence about this event”, declared the Red and Black Alliance representatives in a press conference.
According to the RBA, the construction of a new monument in Tirana or wherever else in Albania, was a lack of respect to the unique and true monument that has been staying in Vlore for the last 40 years.
“The Independence Monument stands in Vlore and we will defend it with all our forces”, RBA declared.
