Rama’s official visit to Italy

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama,  started today his visit in Italy, where he met his homolgoue, Enrico Letta.

During his visit, the official Rome expressed its readiness to lobby in the European Union in favor of the candidate status for Albania and for opening new horizons of cooperation in the economic area.

“Our relations are warm and consolidated”, Letta declared in his opening speech.

“Italy is working to convince some countries to grant Albania with the candidate status. We are doing this because we know that the Albanian government is determined to continue its reform program”, Letta declared.

While considering our country as a strategic partner, the head of the Italian government confirmed that their discussion focused on the importance of implementing the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project.

Rama thanked Italy for the supportin in integration, and expressed the desire to deepen the economic relations between the two countries.

“Italy is playing a constructive role with the candidate status. Albania is ready to welcome more Italian investments. We have a considerable geographical advantage, a work power that is still relatively low cost and a favoring tax system that makes Albania attractive for the Italian business”, Rama declared.

The Prime Minister expressed the gratitude of official Tirana for the support that Italy has given in the joint fight against organized crime and corruption and for encouraging the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
