Rama: “You left an empty budget”

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, declared that the budget review
was a imposed by the financial crisis left by the previous government,
which, according to Rama, has abused even with the funds of the disabled
people.
“94% of an annual fund of 174 million USD fund that was to be given for food, has been spent in April, May and June, months corresponding with the electoral campaign, and no one has cared where the government was going to find money for July, August, September, October, November and December; money that is supposed to provide food for the disabled people, who have no other way to get to feed themselves besides waiting for the date of this payment. From 174 million USD that were to be given to these people, you have spent 94% and have left only 7 million USD. Not according to us, but to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, because with their understanding we have also requested a special audit for aroudn 200 million USD of tendered and not-tendered public works that have not been paid; 20 million USD for water and canalization; 30 million for health; all this money left behind from you. Even for the education you have left a 20 million USD bill”, Rama declared.
The Democratic Party accuses the government of increasing the debt to forerun a failure in the collection of revenues and increased spending of the administration.
“While pouring crocodile tears, you don’t you do something decent for a man of state, and from the 400 million USD that you will take from this moment until December 31st, why don’t you use 100 million USD or 150 million USD for the paraplegic, the retired people and those on economic assistance, or to pay the public investments, medicament bills and fuels”, answered the former Minister of Finances, Ridvan Bode.
“What Bode just declared is the proof of how far from reality they still are, and how much they have lost the listening ability, because this normative act is doing exactly that”, Rama declared.
“You keep the same level of spending, you realize 92% of the spending program until the end of the year, and what will happen next? 17 billion ALL will be saved. Not only you are not cutting anything for the initial program of four months, but you think to realize 100% of the plan in this period, and even to collect 5 billion ALL more”, Bode declared.
“You want to make cuts on what? Pensions? Salaries? You want to make other cuts? You took 94% of the fund for the disabled people and used it for campaign”, Rama accused.
