While visiting Korca, the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, asked the women of
Korce and all over Albania to contribute in the big Socialist political
family by having a serious engagement for the realization of the
program “For an Albanian Rebirth”.

This meeting in Korce is based on the intiative of a group of Socialist MPs for engaging more Albanian women and girls in politics. Rama declared that the problems met by the Albanian women and girls in Albania, such as unemployment and human traffic can be addressed only with their contribution and inclusion in politics.

“We have a very ambitious program that affects some very important aspects of live and the lack of a gender balance in Albania. This addresses to the need of having a series of new policies for the Albanian girls and women. Starting with the children of unemployed women, even at the pregnancy, when we believe that a young mother, because she is unemployed, doesn’t need a pregnancy assistance from the state”, Rama declared.

The Socialist leader underlined that Albania is where it is because of the men, and it can go where it should be with the help of women.

“For the men to help this historical phase of the country’s development, they must open way to more women and girls, so that they can be included in the social, public and political life. What the women can do is benefit from every opportunity for being included, so that their voice can be heard stronger and that politics can be influenced more by them. You can do this. All you need is to believe that you have made half of the road, and all you need now is to continue the other half. We will always be there and offer our support”, Rama declared.

Present in this meeting were the Socialist MPs, Olta Xhacka and Eglantina Gjermeni.
