Rama: We will not negotiate national interest with Athens. Idrizi? Artificial problem

During a joint conference with the Serbian Prime Minister, Alexandar
Vucic, Prime Minister Rama was asked by Top Channel about two other hot
topics of the foreign policy.

The first one was related to the agreements with Greece, and the declarations of Athens for appointing Shpetim Idrizi as vice Parliament Speaker.

“There is no reason why Athens or thinkers in Tirana should be surprised why Albania requests information about the sea researches, based on practice routines. There is no secret that we are trying to resolve a national issue with the new government. We want to continue the cooperation started in the past. We have resolved the old problem of toponyms and we have opened the dialogue channel with the maritime border problem. We will not negotiate the national interest to pretend we have a good neighboring. We did not promise to close our eyes for a problem that was not created by us. As for the Parliament Speaker, we cannot imagine that Athens or any other capital city could tell us how to operate, and this is an artificial problem”, Rama declared.

The second question was about Rama’s declaration on Macedonia, after the Kumanova incident. A declaration that was interpreted by the Macedonian media as a threat for vetoing the NATO accession.

“As regards Macedonia, I have reiterated before, and I will reiterate again that I have not mentioned the word veto and I have made no threats. We are NATO members even when we give more voice to the joint NATO declarations, which, also thanks to our persistence, have included the improvement of interethnic relations. And we will say this today with full rights. T is not a threat, not a blockage, just a stance. Last night we received confirmation for the presence of Mr.Gruevski here. The number of Prime Minister is full”, the Rama declared..
