The Albanian PM, Edi Rama, declared that the Police Operation in Lazarat
marked the destruction of what he called a political criminal horde
that had been staining Albania’s image for years.
“For five consequent days, day and night, the police destroyed a 20-year-old problem that had turned that village into a republic of crime, and that had become a shame for our country. The politics of shame that covered crime does not exist anymore today. After five days and nights, after the first real confrontation of the police with crime, the Lazarat residents are no more hostages of an ugly marriage between politics and crime”, Rama declared.
The government leader declared that today, thanks to this operation, the entire world sees Albania differently, and our country is not laughed at anymore.
“The police returned Albania’s dignity. This operation divides our country from one chapter of misery, This is a new chapter for the state police, and it didn’t cost any drop of blood”, Rama declared, warning that this battle is not over yet.
“We have reached a spectacular results that some don’t want to see, and that’s why they close their eyes. This is the most significant evidence that the State Police is back on its duty. This is an extraordinary achievement, and this is only the beginning”, Rama declared.
“We are leading the radical transformation of the State Police and their relations with the citizens and institutions”, the PM declared.
Admitting that the fight against crime is still long, he said that now the government is facing a new challenge.
“We have to deal with another Lazarat now, which is the judiciary and some judges who do not deserve to be there”, Rama declared, closing his declaration with an appeal to the Prosecutor General.
“I appeal the Prosecutor General to engage his people and himself to go to the end of this operation, until we seize the last cent of dirty money that was accumulated by these criminals, who need to take what they deserve”, Rama declared.
