After the interview on Hard Talk, BBC, Edi Rama appeared on another
important international media, such as CNN. After introducing the
strongest points of the government that he will lead after September,
the Prime Minister designate declared that war against corruption will
be one of the points that will start the change of Albania.
“I hope that you will not be thinking that corruption is a virus that belongs only to Albania. You know that wherever it goes and whatever it affects, corruption can spread as an infectious disease. The situation in Albania is what it is. What we can do is fight this phenomenon. We have a plan to establish some systems and realize some reforms in the war against this phenomenon, so that we can save our country. This phenomenon has spread so deep that has left our country in a very difficult position”, Rama declared.
Rama also added that his goal and that of his government is to turn to reality the dream of the Albanian people to be part of the great European family.
“Certainly that we will do everything possible in a very short time so that we can receive the candidate status. I remember that one of the slogans that the youth used while bringing down the communist regime was “We want Albania as all Europe”. Our main goal is that Albania becomes part of Europe and can be integrated in it”, Rama declared.
When asked about the bilateral relations, the Prime Minister designate declared on the Turkish CNN that Turkey is a strategic partner of Albania, and a good example to be followed in the positive transformation of the country during the past years.
“We have met Mr.Erdogan before the elections and it is sincerely a nam that I value for what he has done for his country. During our conversation he promised to help us as regards the relations with Turkey and Albania. Together with Italy and Greece, Turkey became our strategic partner. We see Turkey as a strategic partner and we want to reinforce and develop the relation that we have with our country. We want to benefit from the trasnformation that Turkey has experienced during this time. We see it as a role model. The problems that we are facing today, especially the ones in the health and education sectors, are very similar to what Turkey had to face years ago”, Rama underlined.
Rama will meet the Turkish Prime Minister this Saturday at 14:30, the second meeting in a very short time.
