The second negotiation meeting between Prime Minister Edi Rama and
opposition leader Lulzim Basha at the Presidency lasted two hours. After
the meeting, Rama spoke about the offer they made to the opposition:

“We are on the same position. I offered the Democratic Party a mechanism to monitor the elections, and have their eyes inside the government with a Deputy Prime Minister proposed from the DP. I offered him that together with three representatives from the USA, EU and OSCE, he could lead a task force to make sure that the state assets are not being used for electoral campaign. He can have three Deputy Ministers proposed by the DP, but not from the ranks of the DP, at the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Education. The three of them should also be accompanied by international community. They can monitor the role of police, prisons and the entire education sector, to guarantee any claim that teachers and students may be intimidated, and so that they can take measures in a real time”, Rama said.

“When I was in opposition, I couldn’t expect this even in my best dreams. We need to address the three points of the OSCE-ODIHR repots, which mention the unfair disadvantages that the state mechanism can create against the opposition”, the Prime Minister said.

When asked by journalists, Rama said that his offer were not accepted by the opposition.

“The elections will be held on June 18th, and there is no more time”, he added.
